Vigil 2.0.6 Now Available

Vigil 2.0.6 was released to the App Store this week. This was a small bug-fix update that addressed a couple issues:

  • Indicate no status code instead of 0
  • Fix crash when tapping on expired notification banner
  • Stop showing invalid site entries in Today View and Watch App
  • Don't strip trailing slash from paths when saving
  • Fix crash when presenting new notification messages

Vigil on WatchAware

WatchAware is a great site for tracking the latest apps with support for the Apple watch. They have a great interface for showing off all the different functionality in an app with notification, glance, and app previews. You can see Vigil's entry here.

Vigil 2.0.5 Now Available

Vigil 2.0.5 is now available in the App Store. This update includes several new features, along with performance and bug fix improvements.

Apple Watch Support

Vigil now supports the Apple Watch! Use the quick glance feature to get a quick status update on all your sites, or ping a site right from your wrist. We have a blog post with more details.

SMS Alert Delivery

You can now optionally have alerts delivered via SMS. Sometimes there is nothing as good as SMS for getting out an alert. SMS alert delivery is a new free feature for Professional and Business  plans up to 100 messages per month. Tap on the settings gear, and scroll down for the new phone number field where you can enter the number where you want SMS alerts sent.

Apple Watch App Coverage at The Sweet Setup

Bradley Chambers, over at The Sweet Setup, has a great post on Apple Watch apps worth taking a look at. We were very excited to see that he included Vigil among the list! Go check out the article to see some other great watch apps, and see what he has to say about Vigil. If any readers are using Vigil on their watch, let us know how it is going, and what you'd like to see.

Vigil Now Available For Apple Watch

We are happy to announce the release of Vigil 2.0.5 with support for the Apple Watch. The status of all your websites is now just a glance away. Vigil supports the the full spectrum of Apple Watch features, including notifications, glances, and a full app extension with status, metrics, and ping capability.

Glance View

Vigil supports a glance view where you can see a quick overview of the status of all your sites. Everything okay? You'll see right away.

Enhanced Notifications

We've also added enhanced notification views that take advantage of the entire watch screen. You'll immediately know what the status of your site is.

Full Site List

If you want more information you can see your entire site list right from your wrist. Scroll through them all, and get the latest status and performance metrics.

Ping From Your Wrist

When you are viewing a site, you can use ForceTouch to bring up a context menu, and ping the site right from your watch, and get your results immediately. No need to even pull your phone out of your pocket.

Panic Prompt Integration

We're huge fans of Panic at Vigil, and one of our favorite apps is Prompt. Now, when you are viewing a site in Vigil, you can launch straight into Prompt and have an SSH terminal ready in a single tap.

In order to link a site entry in Vigil to your Prompt configuration, you'll need to setup a server configuration with a Nickname.

Once you have designated a nickname for a server configuration in Prompt, you can use that same nickname in the Panic Prompt Nickname field in the Integrations section when editing a site entry.

Once you have the integration entry in place, you will see a new enabled console button in the toolbar for a site. Tap on the button, and you will be sent right into Prompt to your server. You're now just one tap away from fixing your server when you get an alert.

Vigil 2.0.4 Released

Vigil v2.0.4 is now available in the iOS App Store. This is a minor bug-fix release, with a couple new features added.

Hosting Provider & Notes Fields

We've added two new freeform fields to each site entry. The first is for recording the hosting providers the site uses. By using this information, we will be able to detect widespread hosting provider outages, provided targeted notifications when there are known issues with a host, and collect long-term reliability statistic to let our users know who is doing well, and who might need to improve their reliability.

The notes field is a simple freeform field where you can record your own notes on each site.

Panic Prompt Integration

You can now launch an SSH terminal right from Vigil. If you have Panic's Prompt iOS app installed (v 2.0.4) you can enter the nickname you assigned in Prompt into your Vigil site entry. This will enable the console button on the detail screen, which will launch you right into your Panic Prompt server entry.

NOTE: This feature requires Panic Prompt v2.0.4.
